Gua Sha + Facial

Gua sha (pronounced gwah-shah) is an ancient Chinese healing technique which involves scraping the skin with a massage tool to improve the circulation of stagnant blood and energy flow. Also known as skin scraping, spooning or coining, it is believed that gua sha can offer a unique approach to better health by stimulating microcirculation of the soft tissue through repeated short or long strokes. This action may cause reddening of the skin but is harmless and will fade after a few days.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, 'qi' or 'chi' is energy which flows through the body and must be balanced and flowing freely to ensure health and wellbeing. In the same tradition it is believed that 'qi' can get blocked and cause pain or tension in the muscles and joints. Gua sha aims to move this blocked energy to relieve aches, tension and stiffness.
